Cumbria Police dispatched the Patterdale Mountain Rescue team to an incident in Hallinhag Wood, on the bank of Ullswater, below Hallin Fell, around midday on Monday, May 29.
A 34-year-old man had taken a tumble and suffered a leg wound. Because of the casualty’s position, it was determined to reach and then evacuate the individual using the team’s rescue RIB.
When a team doctor arrived, he inspected the casualty’s injuries before washing out, treating, and bandaging the wound.
The man and his friend were then taken to Glenridding, where an ambulance was waiting to carry him to the hospital for further treatment.
During this event, the crew was called to report a fire above the Lake at Devil’s Chimney.
The Team was stepped down after communicating directly with the informant and establishing that Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service was present.
The first incident took four hours to finish with 13 team members.
“We’d like to thank the Glenridding Sailing School for kindly allowing us to launch from their site, and the Inn on the Lake for allowing us to use their jetty,” a spokeswoman added.
“On busy days, the goodwill and support of local businesses continue to assist the Team in responding to incidents in a safe and timely manner.”
