Ambleside will welcome the festive season on Saturday 21 November 2026, with a community celebration featuring Christmas stalls, family activities, special Santa cruises on Windermere and the much-loved lantern procession through the town. The highlight is the traditional Christmas lights switch-on, when Ambleside begins to glow for winter.
Important for 2026: The organisers have confirmed that there will be no fireworks display this year. The focus is on the lantern parade and festive lights, so ignore older listings that still mention fireworks.
