Langdale Chase is a Grade II-listed hotel located in Windermere, Lake District. The hotel will reopen in November 2023 after an extensive refurbishment, the most significant in its 80-year history. It has 30 bedrooms, and the 1920s and 1930s have inspired the interiors.
Daniel Thwaites, a family-owned hotel and pub business, has acquired the hotel. The refurbishment has been carried out by Goff Associates Ltd, led by Jane Goff, who has sought to elevate the property through modern materials, crafting a contemporary space that blends seamlessly into the Victorian villa’s lakeside surroundings, bringing the outside in with natural tones and a calming design vision.
The hotel will be led by general manager Mike Vincent, who has previously held the position between 2017 and 2019. Executive chef Michael Cole will head up the two-AA-rosette restaurant. Cole has created a menu centred around classic British cuisine inspired by the Lake District and the surrounding coastline.
The hotel has 21 rooms in the main house, eight in the Lakehouse, and a private Boathouse suite. Each room has been individually designed, paying homage to the hotel’s lakeside location. The private Boathouse suite offers panoramic views of Lake Windermere and has a private rooftop terrace.
