Over 140 independent stalls and festive entertainment

Holker’s winter market is known for its mix of artisan crafts, handmade Christmas gifts, regional food and drinks. Visit Lake District advertises more than 140 independent traders this year, while another visitor listing describes more than 150 stalls. The exact number of stalls may vary, but the emphasis is on shopping directly from independent makers and producers.

Visitors can browse gifts, enjoy street food and relax at the outdoor bars while listening to live music, with a programme spanning blues, folk and other styles. Unlike a smaller village fair, the market spreads across the Holker estate, making it a substantial festive outing.

Market tickets also include Holker Hall and gardens

Admission to this event is not free. Holker confirms that a Winter Market ticket is required to enter all areas of the estate during the three-day event. The same ticket includes entry to Holker Hall and the gardens, offering an opportunity to explore more than the stalls alone.

Published ticket information lists advance Friday admission from £5 and Saturday or Sunday from £9.50, with higher gate prices. Children under 12 are advertised as free, but accompanying children’s tickets should be booked online. Prices and availability should be rechecked directly with Holker before purchase. What time does the Holker Winter Market open?

The organiser confirms 10am–4.30pm on all three days: Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026. Some third-party listings still show a later Friday session, but Holker Hall’s own 2026 event page confirms the same opening hours every day, with no early entry. Check the official event timetable before travelling.

Holker describes Friday as traditionally the quieter day, which may appeal to visitors who prefer a less crowded atmosphere.

Getting to Holker Hall near Grange-over-Sands

The venue is at Holker Hall & Gardens, Cark-in-Cartmel, Cumbria LA11 7PL, near Grange-over-Sands and the Cartmel Peninsula. The site is a short drive from the southern Lake District, making the market suitable for a festive day out.

Visitors should be prepared for November conditions. Parking may involve an uneven or muddy approach and a walk to the market, so sturdy footwear and a waterproof coat are sensible. Holker says well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the market and gardens, although only assistance dogs can enter the Hall.
