Karrimor Bodmin 4 Mid Weather Men’s Boots

Karrimor Bodmin 4 Mid Weather Men's BootsIf you’re seeking comfortable, waterproof, and reasonably priced walking boots, the Karrimor Bodmin 4 Mid Weather Men’s Boots are well worth considering.

Pros

  • Comfortable fit
  • Waterproof membrane lining
  • Dynagrip outsole for traction

Cons

  • May be warmer than expected
  • Unknown long-term durability
  • Slightly heavier than some competitors

We recently tested the Karrimor Bodmin 4 Mid Weather Men’s Boots extensively on various terrains, including muddy hills and rocky beaches. The boots provided a comfortable, snug fit and kept our feet dry in damp conditions, thanks to the waterproof/breathable membrane lining. The suede and mesh upper materials not only looked great but also offered durability for everyday use.

The Dynagrip outsole proved to be highly effective in providing traction on both wet and dry surfaces. It gripped well on slippery rocks, allowing for stable footing during our treks. One thing we noticed, however, was that the boots had a tendency to retain heat, making our feet quite warm after extended use. This could be a positive or negative aspect, depending on personal preference and the weather conditions you typically encounter.

While we can’t speak to the long-term durability of these boots just yet, they held up well during our testing period. They proved a reliable choice for walking the dog across various Lakeland landscapes, and the boots were easy to clean after muddy walks. Balancing comfort, waterproofing, and price, the Karrimor Bodmin 4 Mid Weather Men’s Boots have earned our recommendation for those in search of a solid pair of walking boots.

Regatta Men’s Bainsford Walking Boots – Peat 9 UK

Men's Bainsford Waterproof Walking BootsThe Regatta Men’s Bainsford Walking Boots are a comfortable and reliable choice for wet and rugged terrain with a few minor drawbacks.

Pros

  • Excellent waterproofing features
  • Lightweight and comfortable design
  • Durable and protective rubber outsole

Cons

  • Tight lace eyelets may cause difficulty with adjustments
  • Potentially short lifespan with heavy use
  • Squeaking noise on some pairs

Recently, we tested the Regatta Men’s Bainsford Waterproof Walking Boots on the Bassenthwaite Ridge Walk, and we were quite pleased with their performance. The boots boast an Isotex waterproof lining and hydropel water-resistant technology, ensuring your feet remain dry throughout your walk. The deep padded collar and tongue also contribute to providing all-day comfort.

When we ventured out on uneven terrain around Helvellyn, we appreciated the stabilising shank technology and EVA internal shock pads which delivered underfoot protection and reduced foot fatigue. The lightweight rubber outsole offered excellent traction, enhancing our overall confidence during our hike.

However, we did notice a few downsides. The lace eyelets seemed to grip the laces too tightly, making it somewhat difficult to adjust the fit. Additionally, while comfortable and lightweight, these boots may not be the most durable option for heavy use. Lastly, some users reported a squeaking noise with each step, which may be irritating for some, but this was not a deal-breaker for us.

Buying Guide

In this buying guide, we will discuss the essential factors to consider when choosing the perfect walking boots for men.

Fit and Comfort

It’s essential to select a walking boot that provides a comfortable fit, as you’ll spend many hours wearing them during your outdoor adventures. Ensure the boots fit snugly around your feet without causing any discomfort or pinching. We recommend trying on walking boots with the socks you plan to wear during your hikes, as this will give you a better idea of the true fit.

Material

Walking boots come in various materials, each with its own set of advantages and drawbacks. Some common materials used in walking boots include:

  • Leather: Durable, water-resistant, and slowly moulds to the shape of your feet.
  • Synthetic materials: Lightweight, breathable, and often more affordable than leather alternatives.
  • Gore-Tex: Exceptionally waterproof and breathable, ideal for wet conditions.

Consider the environment and conditions you’ll be encountering on your walks when deciding on the material for your boots.

Outsole and Grip

The outsole and grip of your walking boots are vital for ensuring you stay upright and stable on a variety of terrains. Look for boots with deep, multi-directional lugs that can provide a reliable grip on various surfaces. Additionally, the outsole should be made of a durable rubber that can withstand the wear and tear of long hikes.

Ankle Support

Ankle support is crucial when walking on uneven surfaces or carrying heavy loads. Higher-cut boots provide better ankle support and help to prevent injuries. However, some individuals may find them less comfortable and less breathable than lower-cut alternatives. Assess your needs and personal preferences when choosing a boot height.

Weight

Lightweight walking boots will help reduce fatigue during long hikes, while heavier boots can offer more support and durability. Consider your personal comfort and the type of walking you’ll be doing before making a decision.

By evaluating the factors mentioned above, you’ll be well-equipped to find the perfect pair of walking boots for your outdoor adventures.
