Looking for a family day out around Windermere during the Christmas holidays in 2026? Brockhole on Windermere, between Bowness and Ambleside, offers lakeside scenery, outdoor space, a playground and indoor activities. It’s a lovely place to consider for a winter outing, but visitors should note that a dedicated Christmas 2026 events programme has not yet been confirmed on Brockhole’s official website.
What’s available at Brockhole this winter?
The Brockhole grounds remain open to visitors, with lakeshore views and natural spaces to explore. Families can enjoy the free adventure playground and Minty Land by BeWILDerwood, an indoor soft-play experience with separate ticketing. Café facilities are also advertised. Check the official website before travelling for opening hours, prices and any temporary closures during the Christmas period.
Check the official Brockhole website for current opening information.
Family-friendly activities
Explore the lakeshore and grounds
Wrap up warmly and take a gentle stroll through Brockhole’s natural surroundings. Winter days can bring beautiful views across Windermere, though paths may be muddy or icy.
Visit Minty Land indoor play
Minty Land is a useful option when the weather turns wet or cold. Check age suitability, session times and ticket availability before setting off.
Enjoy a café stop
Combine your walk or play session with refreshments. Brockhole currently advertises the Whitehouse Café and Brockhole Bites, but seasonal service may vary.
Travel by lake cruise
Windermere Lake Cruises’ Red Cruise runs year-round between Bowness, Brockhole and Ambleside, although winter timetables and stops should be checked in advance. Travelling by boat can be part of the adventure for children.
See Brockhole’s guide to arriving by boat.
Will Brockhole have Christmas events in 2026?
As of 19 October 2026, we haven’t found an official programme confirming a Santa grotto, Christmas market or festive workshops at Brockhole on Windermere. Please don’t confuse this attraction with Brockholes Nature Reserve near Preston, which has separately advertised Santa events. We’ll update this guide if Brockhole announces its own Christmas activities.
