Patterdale

Patterdale is located near the point of Ullswater in the Eden Valley of the Lake District.

It’s a place with so much natural beauty and vistas, including rolling hills, fells, peaks, country pubs, woods, animals, open water, washed stone cottages, country hotels, and hiking paths, that it’s easy to get lost in the crowd.

Patterdale, on the other hand, has emerged from the shadows, with a spotlight now shining down on it as one of the country’s top ‘hidden gem’ places, according to a UK-wide research. With an overall score of 56.1, the hamlet placed seventh out of ten in a variety of areas.

According to the information produced by staycation vacation firm HomeToGo, Dunwich in Suffolk gained the top rank with 58.6 after assessing typical summer temperatures, rainfall, the number of pubs, outdoor activities, photo-friendliness, and lodging pricing.

Patterdale’s location to open water and Hellvellyn contributed to the community receiving a perfect 10 for outdoor sports facilities and a 9.8 for pricing (median price per night for holiday accommodation). The ideal location of the landscape photographer had an 8.9 ‘under-the-radar’ score, which was derived by looking at the amount of searches for vacation accommodation in each place with a check-in date between June 21, 2022 and September 23, 2022.

Tourists may immerse themselves in the hamlet’s ancient legacy, including the Victoria-era St Patrick’s Church, which holds tapestries by Ann Macbeth, who resided in the area from 1921 until her death in 1943. Daytrippers travelling to different walking trails such as Kirkstone Pass to Ambleside and Troutbeck may pass via Patterdale’s meandering lanes, while Penrith is around a 30-minute drive away.

There are also several places to stay, ranging from campsites like Side Farm and Patterdale Estate to luxury hotels, self-catering homes, guest houses, bed & breakfasts, cottages, and barns.
