6 Cumbrian tourist companies are in the running to be called the best in England. The finalists have been revealed for the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023.
The national finalists were selected from hundreds of tourism businesses across England including hotels, self-catering accommodation, B&Bs, glamping operators, attractions, restaurants, pubs and museums. The winners will be announced at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter on 7 June 2023.
The national awards will see finalists recognised as Gold, Silver and Bronze winners across 16 core categories from the ‘Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award’ to the ‘Resilience and Innovation Award,’ from the ‘Taste of England Award’ to the ‘Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award’.
The 48-strong shortlist will compete in 16 classifications.
The following Cumbrian businesses have been named as finalists:
B&B and Guest House of the Year
Recognises bed & breakfast and guest house businesses providing truly memorable guest experiences and demonstrating excellence across every aspect of the business.
Cedar Manor, Windermere
Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year
Recognises holiday parks, sites and villages providing truly memorable guest experiences and demonstrating excellence across every aspect of the business.
The Quiet Site, Watermillock, Ullswater
Experience of the Year
Recognises providers of truly memorable and immersive activities for visitors to participate in.
Make Your Own Gin Experience, Ulverston
Small Hotel of the Year
Recognises small serviced accommodation businesses providing truly memorable guest experiences and demonstrating excellence across every aspect of the business.
Askham Hall, Askham
New Tourism Business of the Year
Recognises high performing new tourism businesses, demonstrating excellent understanding of their market, exceeding the expectations of their customers with clear plans for future development.
Bassenthwaite Lake Station, Cockermouth
Small Visitor Attraction of the Year
Recognises small visitor attraction businesses providing truly memorable visitor experiences and demonstrating excellence across every aspect of the business.
Muncaster Castle, Gardens and Hawk & Owl Centre, Ravenglass
