Muncaster Medieval Festival

Muncaster Castle, a prominent historical monument, is holding a Mediaeval Festival beginning May 27th, 2023.

This will be the first time Muncaster has held a large-scale event like this.

It will last nine days, beginning with the bank holiday weekend and extending through the week.

We’re really excited to be going all out with our Mediaeval Muncaster theme, all the staff and hopefully most of the people coming will be dressed in mediaeval clothing,” said Ewan Frost-Pennington of Muncaster Castle.

“We’ll have three battles a day where people can participate, we’ll have archery, mechanised jousting, a dragon trail where people have to try to find the dragon, we’ll have reenactors here, we’ll have warrior training, it’ll be a jam-packed day.”

“We’ve had Fool Festivals in the past, and we’ll have fools doing walk-around acts and entertainment for the kids and adults again.”

“We’ll also have a mediaeval tavern where you can drink beer and listen to live music, so it’ll be a proper festival lasting nine days.”

“For me, the Halloween Festival has become extremely popular in the local area; we get 10,000 people to the Halloween Festival over the course of nine days, so that’s what I’m attempting to replicate.”

“Mediaeval Muncaster is very different from regular Muncaster, and some of our festivals have been on a slightly smaller scale.”

“So that’s what we’re going to do; we’re going to take it seriously and treat it like a Halloween event.”

“My favourite film is A Knight’s Tale, starring Heath Ledger; it combines modern rock music with mediaeval music, and I want to emulate that.”

“We’re hoping it’ll be a lot of fun, and we’d love it if people came to check it out.”

Here are our exclusive images from the setup and early morning of the first day.
