Townend is opening for the season on Tuesday March 28.
Visitors will be welcomed to explore the new Treasures of Townend spotlight exhibit, which celebrates the Browne household’s legacy and the rich history of Townend, uniting a few of the treasures of the collection.
Included are objects that have never been seen prior to including George Browne’s furniture designs and a Herdwick carpet hand woven in Troutbeck..
In addition to unique objects from the collection, the exhibition explores fascinating pieces from the property’s archives, including a post from the Westmorland Gazette in 1914.
Home and Collections Officer Chantelle Dollimore stated: “It’s a benefit to be able to celebrate 75 years of being open to the public as a visitor tourist attraction– because time I would anticipate that more than one million sees have actually been made to your house.”
