The sustainable choice in expert compasses the Terra series of compass from Silva has been made to reduce environmental impact. The lid, grip ring and graduation ring on the Terra Expedition S compass is made from REVO material. REVO is made from recycled polymers mixed with hemp plant fibres with 90% less carbon emissions than ordinary plastics. The detachable scale lanyard is made from eco-friendly recycled PET plastics.
Regardless of the weather the Terra Expedition S is built to last and easy to handle giving you the accuracy you need even when the weather turns severe. The flexible lanyard is detachable and has 1:25 and 1:50 scale markings so you can measure distance on your map out in the field or at home.
The body of this Silva compass has easy to read markings for the day and luminous marking for night or low light levels that are light activated. The map-measuring scales in mm or inches and GPS scales 1:24,000, 1:25,000 and 1:50,000. The Terra Expedition S also includes a magnifying lens for precision, as well as a magnetic declination adjuster and a clinometer to measure slope angles
Viewing the compass dial and the background at the same time is easy to achieve using the folding mirror. This helps you to measure bearings accurately and there is also a 45° angle assistance on the mirror sighting function. Included is a slope card for detecting avalanche risk and assessing the challenge of your route as well as measuring the added distance a slope will create on your travels. Take care in steep terrain as the risk of an avalanche increases if the slope is more than 30°, the slope card helps you look out for these risks and helps you navigate safely.
